A...Positive Self Image

08.26.2008 - 4:20 PM
The idea for [ this comic ] was inspired by remembering a hilarious fanart Ryo's little brother did roughly 5-6 years ago. (Basically, Ame's boobs took 3/4ths of the page.) A fairly generic idea, but I wanted to practice comics without speech again.

Of course I shifted the retarded onto Ame, because she was never the brightest crayon in the box.

RISING DRAGON FIST

08.22.2008 - 4:20 PM
Seriously, what [ a way to ruin an otherwise perfect day.] This is identical to a RL experience, ...except the puppy eating part. Well, maybe.

Heres the source of this [ blight ]. And if you don't know what a Shoryuken is...[ EDUCATION TIME ].

So, for you non-infidels, do you remember the first time you laid eyes on Street Fighter? Preferably an arcade machine, as those are always much more memorable. What with people crowded all around them, waiting to pounce on someone whose lost for their turn, oggling the (well then it was) amazing animation and figuring out who they'd play as.

For me, it was at a hardware store of all places. Maybe my parents orchestrated this so I wouldn't kill myself (or worse - break something) with machinery. They had a small arcade in the front with Space Harrier, some racing game no one cares about, some generic claw machines, and....Street Fighter II: The World Warrior.

Whats even more strange is the fact the arcade was actually pretty busy. But I'm sure thats because it was part of a strip that also had a Walmart and a drug store that would later sell the Sonic comic. Parents probably dumped their kids there.

A quicky.

08.19.2008 - 4:20 PM
[ No one ] likes being reminded of how retarded they were as a kid.

This ones a quicky for this week, because I have to coax my new computer to bend to my will. Using only my mind.

Please don't take this as a direct assault on DBZ. It was actually a big part of my childhood (along with the Pizza Cats and Sailormoon, just like every older weeaboo), but my devotion to such things was retarded at best.

Also, mouse art yaoi for all.

...I'm... h...a...p...p...y...

08.13.2008 - 4:25 PM
"It's not right... not right... not right...

Ness!

I'm... so...sad..."

Heres the new [ comic ].

In all seriousness, Earthbound is an amazing game. It starts off realllllll slow, but once you get past Twoson it's A++. Everything is so happy and beyond cheesy, [ like so. ]

Then the game slaps you in the face with [ THIS. ] In fact, seeing that very YouTube was what made me go "WOW I NEED TO PLAY THIS." The 16 bit metal music partway through doesn't hurt either.

Also, I may take a bit to get replying to you guys - the internet is down at my workplace. Garghhhh. But I'll get to them in a timely manner considering that. I also had to buy a new computer recently due to my current one making it pretty obvious it wishes to embrace death, which is both good and bad. I got the same one my roommate did - except it's a quadcore. I'm excited. C:

Thats not how you use Pyramid Head...

07.22.2008 - 4:25 PM
Okay, [ this ] move with the Silent Hill series is a bit much. I'm honestly still undecided on how I feel about it. Although I will give Konami this: At least they know what measures need to be taken to rescue a franchise, instead of saturating it with even MORE crap. Anyway, heres a [ quick comic ] concerning it, because the moving D-Day is this weekend and I'm not too sure how much time that'll take.

...I can pray Akira is still doing the music at least. That shits AWESOME on it's own.

For what it's worth, it's little excerpts like this that make me still have a glimmer of hope for the game.

"There was another monster that actually made me jump. It resembled a human walking on its arms and legs like a spider. I should also mention that its arms and legs were actually giant knives and its head looked like it was on backwards. That's important. The monster ambushed me during an elevator ride, crawling on the outside of the car and tearing holes in the walls."

Hell I'll buy it just for that encounter alone.

Also, don't bother trying to get a good outlook on [ Sonic and the Black Knight] from me, even if the game was awesome and in the same realm as Ocarina of Time game-play wise (NO CHANCE), Sonic with a sword is like Sonic using public transit. Pointless.

Concerning E3 2008

07.15.2008 - 4:25 PM
Despite being a Nintendo loyalist I've come to terms with the truth about E3 - nothing was terribly new and exciting aside from Mad World. That said, [ this ] pretty much sums it up. You may need to read the [ previous comic ] to get the end's connection.

Other than that dissapointment, not much is new. The house is already becoming a (desirable) chore, and Jeff joined my party in Earthbound, yay. ...I really need to update the art/fanart. :I

Metal Gear Retrospect

07.15.2008 - 4:05 PM
I figure Metal Gear Solid 4 has been out long enough, and people are aware of most of the spoilers. If you're one of those folks that saves the surprise for months on end and expect the internet to NOT spoil it for you - Sheik is actually Zelda, Midna is the Twilight Princess, and Lavos will come to destroy us in due time.

Anyway, onto the [ comic ].

Also, concerning E3. I'm sure most of you already know...

Turns out MGS4 is the ONLY decent exclusive that Sony might get to keep. FFXIII will be experiencing the loud, rumbling womb that is the XBox360. Now, I'm not super gung-ho PRO-XBOX HAET EVERYTHING ELSE as I am a Nintendo loyalist at heart, but anything thats a huge blow to Sony is A-OK by me. That'll teach em that the only reason they won the last two gens was hording third party exclusives, and not very many people care about their 1st party lineup. ...Much unlike Nintendo. :3

Speaking of Nintendo, their lineup wasn't super-amazing, but any news about the new Wario game with awesome animation is welcome.

Regarding the Current Generation of Videogames II

07.08.2008 - 4:30 PM
Sorry about the small hiatus, things've been crazy. Heres a new [ comic ] for you lovely people.

This could be more relevant sometime soon, as Super Mario RPG was recently released on the Japanese Virtual Console...now if only they'd wise up and stop releasing the crap that made the NEOGEO flop in the first place.

And yes...if it wasn't obvious enough, I've been playing nothing but Super Mario RPG and Earthbound all week.

Regarding the Current Generation of Videogames

06.24.2008 - 4:30 PM
I'm honestly surprised I even finished this [ comic ] up, because to be blunt - my life is currently NUTS. Training for a new job over a 3 week period while keeping my old one, crunch-time on the house search, and still trying to keep my social life intact. Hurrrr.

This particular comic is actually how I feel about the current situation of video games, as I'll play the occassional Wii or 360 title, but will then rush back to the delicious 8/16-bit era, and generally enjoy it more. Oy. I'll start the DA/email chat with this - Shining Force I and II are still ridiculously awesome, but Road Rash 2 didn't age so well. A shame too, I really loved that game as a crotch goblin.

And I don't need to tell you[ just how good Phantasy Star IV is - and yeah Ame's father and name is a heavy nod towards this boss!...even if it is just a mistranslation of "Lassic" ]

[ OH YES. ]

The Real Victims

06.17.2008 - 4:30 PM
I deserve a thousand mentions of slowpoke for this particular [ comic ], but the game isn't out yet and more drama WILL unfold so DERP DE DERP. Obviously this is not meant to be offensive, because if you're offended by one violent videogame that takes place in Africa race-wise after countless others taking place in Europe race-wise, you're an idiot.

If you're out of the loop, well...Resident Evil 5 takes place in Africa. A particular race resides in Africa. The game's protagonist is Chris Redfield, a white man. Nevermind the fact RE4 did fine without the spanish community going into an uproar cause hey! SPAIN just so happens to have SPANIARDS. Who'd of thought? You can read an old news article about it [ here ]. View the awesome commentary on the original offended article [ here ]. I expect there to be more drama when the game is released, since it's currently not in any spotlight. It ought to be interesting to say the least.

Delicious Rehash

06.10.2008 - 4:10 PM
Todays [ comic ] explains a large portion of the Zelda fanbase sadly. If you didn't at least try the game before bashing it, YOU are the cancer. ...And aren't allowed in my tree house. Douche.

Also, this is [ the epitome of awesome ], and so is the [ cover art ]. Things like this make me sad that it's Japan only...which doesn't make any sense. America and Europe appreciated No More Heroes a lot more than they did. (I'm basing that on the sales.) But I suppose they're related to todays comic as well. Japan loev rehash.

Still Easy to Please

06.06.2008 - 4:10 PM
Another [ comic ] off the assembly line. As we can see, some people are just a little TOO simplistic.

If you're curious about the full list of 40/40 games, or would just like to know what Famitsu is all about, try [ here ]

Easy to Please

06.03.2008 - 4:17 PM
A new [ comic ] for you folks. Not gonna lie, if any game pulled at my heartstrings for a PS3, it'd be this one.

Sadly, Eva used to be quite hot, even if she was a hobag. :[

I'd mention the fact Itagaki left Tecmo this week, but frankly? Nothing of value was lost. All I learned today was that I just need to make sure not to wear my Decepticon shirt the next time I go to an airport. Jeesh.

Consideration

05.29.2008 - 4:13 PM
Another new [ comic ]? OWTF. Theres a full explanation within...because I'd rather do most news with actual content, along with my own take on a classic joke I wanted to do for awhile. I've never seen the delay last for more than one, maybe two panels, which for some reason always bothered me. Or maybe that cites a problem with my own writing. Har.

Also, Europe Now A Bigger Gaming Market Than The US. I think someone forgot to tell Kotaku that Europe is a CONTINENT, not a country. Hurrdurr.

A Change of Heart

05.27.2008 - 5:03 PM
A brand new [ comic ] for you folks. Thanks for bearing with me these last two weeks. C:
This is somewhat based on a brief experience with Animal Crossing recently. I quit after losing him. ;_;

Also, apparently SquareEnix hates all of you and just wants your money more than even I realized. :B

Craziness

05.19.2008 - 4:33 PM
I had a pretty rough week recently, and it was Ryo's birthday. So heres a Unsound of Mind Fanservice filler while I get back on my feet.

Expect things to go back to normal relatively soon, things have just been crazy. :I

Peculiar Fanservice?

05.07.2008 - 4:33 PM
A new [ comic ], this actually marks the 30th comic / 300 individual comic panels drawn. Woot! I'll probably do something special next week. :U And yes, the comic is actually honoring some ...odd requests for Ryo. oO;

If you have no idea why that little Travis Touchdown is there, you really ought to play No More Heroes. Or at least take a look [ here ]. If you're still confused, take a look [ here ] as well.

TMI and a healthy dose of pain

04.30.2008 - 4:22 PM
Another new [ comic ], this is actually part of a huge one that was fast approaching 14+ panels and...yeah, figured I'd split things up a bit, as I don't want to set the bar for that many. There was a good point to stop it at, and I wanted to adjust the comic update to Wednesday.

Also, heres a chance to see how high your tolerance to pain is, right [ here ]. Ignore the horrible traced Sonic doodles, and pay attention to the audio. Yes, it is a Live Sonic Show performed in Sydney Austrailia, sometime in 1993. And it is absolutely...well, you'll see.

(Also, stop sending me Mario Kart Wii codes, I love you all but I haven't purchased it due to the house stuff.)

Older faces, plenty of news

04.25.2008 - 4:39 PM
A new [ comic ] for you lovely folks. I brought back some faces people've been wanting to see more of, and the characters are much easier to write for now that I'm in stable contact with both of their real life personas. Joy. C: I also updated the [fanart], but sadly a few pieces are still missing.

A fair bit of news this time. Did you know Vyse and Aika of Skies of Arcadia fame recently appeared in a new game? Yeah, I didn't know either until a few days ago. [ Heres the face shots from a Japanese publication. ] Reason to believe the Skies of Arcadia 2 rumors? I really, really hope so.
-------
On a completely unrelated note, I'm holding a small commission / donation drive. Why exactly? I'm attempting to get ahold of a lease on a (fabulous 3200 sqaure foot) house. The getting ahold of the money part isn't the problem actually, it's doing so in a timely manner to beat out everyone else interested in it. If the drive goes smoothly enough, I can stop working overtime and potentially churn out more comics or something. :B

So if you'd like a commission, or just want to donate, feel free to email me or click on the button below:

Also, I am in no way persuading you if you have any slight aversion to doing so. Go spend your money on something that makes you happy. Mario Kart Wii did just come out after all. :o

The truth hurts

04.18.2008 - 5:09 PM
With [ this comic ] I wanted to practice writing an opinion without coming out overly ranty or self-important, and still have mildly interesting character interactions. Not s'much funny, more about insight. Feel free to tell me if I failed. I tend to do that on a regular basis. :U

Yes. I REALLY, REALLY dislike people who yell "shitsux!" over a game they've never played. For the record, I tried to play Final Fantasy 7 after enjoying 6 and 8 very much, and got bored around the 2nd disc. Also, the fact that the key scene in the game was done before (and better) in Phantasy Star kind of put a damper on its impact. I'll try to replay the game again if I ever decide I want to chase a boss character around for 30 hours. I'll admit the soundtrack was fantastic though. C:

Also, I really hope [ this ] isn't true. Yes, this would've saved the franchise...TEN YEARS AGO. (By the way, The Goddamn Batman is totally going to be my main.)

I always found it sort of odd...

04.11.2008 - 5:09 PM
I found that [ this part ] of Super Paper Mario was always a bit..off. Is this a Mario game or a dating sim?! :I I [ kicked it up a notch ] with...erm. It's a tame version of a blind date plan a friend told me.

Just so you know, I was completely jealous.

I also practiced emulating a game style...although I suppose I should be avoiding that and just try to make it quirky, but still recognizable. Hrmm. All in good time I suppose, I've never claimed to be awesome or even satisfied with my work. :P

Hope you folks enjoy these two actually agreeing on something, I'm going to enjoy a small batch on games I purchased on the Wii's VC..being able to play Streets of Rage again sure is grand!

RAAAAAAAAAAGE

04.04.2008 - 5:30 PM
Before you get to the comic, be sure to check out this [ new character profile], as it's quite relevant to the strip itself. Now heres the comic: [ Unsound of Mind ].

During a recent confessions thread, I recalled how my friends, brothers, and parents screwed this up all the time. I've also wanted to do amusing but still rage-based comics that didn't come off as ranty or full of unwarranted self importance through Ame. ...Or maybe I just wanted an excuse to draw the token RAGING face on her...oh well. This comic is also meant to introduce Teo to set up for future strips.

If you're reading this parental units (which I know you will), I'm sorry and you guys are awesome for forcing me to play videogames at a young age. C: (I dread the phone call regardless. :C)

Sonic...Unleashed?

03.28.2008 - 4:20 PM
The news should be relatively well-known, so... [ Heres the comic. ]

So, I can assume you've heard about the new Sonic videogame that will (possibly) revolutionize the franchise and end a 7 year era of (honestly) lackluster games? If you haven't, let me bring you up to speed with the leaked [ screenshots ] and a [ movie ].

Check [ this link ] one more time actually, and observe that...creature in the background behind Sonic. Now you have the basis for todays comic. Not the greatest I know, but I'm really hopeful this game pulls the series away from its currently inevitable demise...so I really wanted a comic to go with it. Haw.

So...thoughts on this concept? I mean, Wolf Link worked out well in Twilight Princess, maybe Sonic Team is just taking a page from Nintendos book. The game has a HUGE budget apparently, so hopefully they know this may be their final chance to ressurect the blue blur.

More amusing than a true glitch...

03.19.2008 - 4:19 PM
For awhile I've wanted to make a comic that had no dialogue so... [ here we go! ]

Since this is a bit late I tried to make it amusing by itself, but it is also in reference to the odd glitch that started popping up in Super Smash Brothers Brawl. ...The glitch remained in the American version btw. If you're confused, try [ here ], [ here ], [ or here ] to check it out.

As for friend codes...I work until 2am and I honestly haven't had much time with the game, my roommates unlocked everything except for one thing. :< Gah. I have played enough to decide my main at least. (Toon Link C:)

Animaniacs Nostalgia

03.11.2008 - 4:30 PM
We all know Sonic...remember [ the Animaniacs? ] Yeah. THEM.

In case you don't remember these (shame on you!) heres a [ video ] to help.

Also, major reconstruction of my main page, 5 hours spent...and I still haven't touched the art and fanart sections ._. Shall do so tonight!

...So what happens when you lag?

02.29.2008 - 4:19 PM
Really, really corny response to overhearing the fact the sex-based MMO "3feel" went into closed beta recently...[ right here ].

I expect to be dead by morning.

There are No More Heroes left in man

02.21.2008 - 4:35 PM
First of all...[ No More Heroes ] is awesome. Going to get it for myself later tonight.

And just so you know...
The boss fights aren't the meat of the game.
Neither are the controls.
IT'S PLAYING WITH THE DAMN CAT... (Okay, thats a bit much, actually. But you get the idea.)

You can see how cute Travis' kitten is for yourself here. C: G'aaaaaw.
